Ok Gang,
I must admit, I'm a bit biased here. I've known Jason for almost 6 years. He and I were friends when I lived in Atlanta and have remained in touch since I moved back to Rhode Island.
As far as his 12 page submission Land of Zoa goes:
I think it was a great set up for an intriguing story. We haven't seen a fantasy type story like this probably since Jason DeGroot's Kreetor. The art is good although I would tell Jason there are areas in the book where the underlying pencils could be cleaned up a bit more. The clor cover appears to have been done with markers or watercolors which is a nice change form the usual digitlly colored stuff... kid of a throwback to when comics were colored by hand!! LOL!!
All in all a good book. ;D

I like it for a debut issue as there's room for improvement and I want to witness this progression to an even better title than it already is,,,which won't be too far away in my estimation. I think a book like this do well with a roster that already includes Comet Tales, by Jim Pack!
I vote to admit!

I am unfortunately going to vote "no." (Don't hate me, guys!)
While I found the production level to be quite high (printed by Ka-Blam, with color covers), and the lettering and balloons to be very good (done by computer, I assume), I wasn't impressed by the actual writing and drawing within most of the panels. There were some pages with good layouts, but most of the artwork had an unfinished look to it, in my opinion.

Jason's book did carry a Kreetor feel to it, and made me a bit nostalgic for Jason DeGroot's work. Not to brand Rob the only stand out, but it's nice to see the variety Jason brings with the title. I'll vote YES, and add that I think the line weight needs to be paid attention to, to establish a sense of depth so that the action doesn't get muted and everything blends together with the same ink width. Some of the panels were indeed hard to make out what was happening. I am intrigued by the story.
